The role
You’ll lead Finex’s accounting department, owning the quality, efficiency and growth of everything we deliver, from bookkeeping to management reporting and statutory financial statements. You’ll manage the team, oversee a portfolio of key clients, and help shape how we use technology to deliver a modern, cloud-first accounting service.
What you’ll do
- Lead, manage and develop the accounting team, including workload planning and performance reviews
- Own the department’s service quality, deadlines and profitability across the full client base
- Act as senior reviewer and sign-off for management accounts, financial statements and year-end files
- Manage relationships with key clients and serve as escalation point for complex accounting matters
- Design and continually improve processes, controls and workflows, with Xero at the core of our delivery
- Work with corporate services, tax, and our CSP team to give clients a joined-up service
- Liaise with external auditors and support clients through audits
- Identify opportunities for advisory and fractional services and contribute to business development
- Report on departmental performance to Finex leadership and contribute to firm strategy
What you’ll bring
- ACCA, ACA or equivalent professional qualification
- 4+ years in practice, including at least 3 years in an accounting team
- Knowledge of IFRS / GAPSME and Maltese compliance requirements
- Strong Xero experience; familiarity with related apps and automation tools an advantage
- Track record of improving processes and managing a multi-client portfolio to deadline
- Confident leader and communicator who builds trust with both team and clients
- Commercial outlook and interest in helping grow the firm
